The foundations and floors are of concrete. The side and end walls are of hollow tile. The roof is exceptionally well framed and is covered with shingles and composition roofing.
The ridge of the house should always run east and west, to get a southern exposure. Sunshine—good, warm, clean, wholesome sunshine, is an absolute essential for hog growing success. It means better health and faster growth.

The windows in the house are of a size and so located that the new born pig, farrowed in February or March, will receive a maximum amount of wholesome sunshine.
A decided advantage of this type is that the hot, perpendicular rays of the summer sun will not penetrate the interior of this house.
Swine are as susceptible to heat as they are to cold, and no other type of house possesses the advantage mentioned above.
