What is the most important thing about a barn? Everything!
No detail should be neglected. But the place where the biggest waste is most likely to appear is in the arrangement of the floor. Today a great deal more thought is given to the arrangement of the farm and dairy barn than was formerly considered necessary. The modern barn plan calls for an arrangement which will provide for the many devices intended to reduce labor and improve living conditions of the livestock. Walks, alleys and doors must be laid out in relation to the carrier system and the other farm buildings.
Supposing a little change in the plan would save you fifty steps three times a day. That would figure to over ten miles a year. Ten miles isn’t much of a walk, but many barns have a dozen or even more ten mile walks built right into them. Think that over. Then do some careful thinking about the floor arrangement.
STAR Equipped Barn, at Homeopathic State Hospital, Allentown, Pa.
On the barn, Mr. Percy Fensternacher, a recognized authority in State of Pennsylvania, acted as purchasing agent for trustees. After carefully considering all lines, the order was placed with Hunt, Helm, Ferris & Co. for full equipment, including STAR Harvester Hay Tools, and STAR Door Hangers.
